The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Remediation Section I has an opening for an Engineering Geologist in the Site Cleanup Program Unit 5. The position is located at 320 West 4th Street, Suite 200, Los Angeles, right in the heart of downtown next to Subway’s Pershing Square Station and Grand Central Market.
Duties:
The incumbent performs complex engineering geologist assignments in the Site Cleanup Program (SCP). The SCP primarily involves regulatory oversight of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater assessments and cleanup at contaminated sites under the Cost Recovery Program. The SCP deals with subsurface investigation and corrective action for various industrial and commercial sites, which includes Superfund sites, Brownfields, refineries, tank farms, pipelines, airports, aboveground storage tanks, manufacturing facilities, metal plating facilities, dry cleaners, and Department of Defense projects.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
