The State Water Resources Control Board, Central Valley Region, has one opening for an Engineering Geologist in the Planning Section working in the Basin Planning and Central Valley Salinity Alternatives for Long-Term Sustainability (CV-SALTS) Programs. The position is located at 11020 Sun Center Dr. Suite #200, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.
Duties:
Under the close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) (Sr ES Sup), the Engineering Geologist performs engineering duties related to the water quality programs of the Board; conducts investigations, inspections, studies, and preparation of surveys and reports; conducts work related to the implementation of federal and state water quality laws and policies; advises and consults with federal, state, and local agencies involved in water quality control, often involving extensive public and professional contacts.
Program Objectives:
The Basin Planning program provides the foundation for all Regional Board regulatory actions by establishing and updating the regulatory frameworks and programs that will preserve and enhance water quality and protect beneficial uses of water for the maximum benefit of the people of California. The Central Valley Salinity Alternatives for Long-Term Sustainability (CV-SALTS) is a cooperative effort among the Central Valley Water Board, State Water Board, permittees, and stakeholders to address the impacts of salinity and nitrates on surface water and groundwater quality in the Central Valley. The goal of the CV-SALTS program is to provide safe drinking water supply, reduce salt and nitrate discharges that cause or contribute to pollution, and implement long-term managed restoration of impaired water bodies.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
