Mission Samriddhi in collaboration with UNICEF, Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group (GEAG) and IIT Gandhi Nagar’s Water and Climate Lab will design, plan, implement and monitor a Eco DRR focused Climate Risk Informed Program across 25 Panchayats in each of these 3 Aspirational Districts – Bahraich ( UP), Begusarai (Bihar) and Virudhunagar ( Tamilnadu) and create role model communities. Today, Climate change is escalating the disaster risk on various elements of rural quality of life and productivity of livelihoods through degenerative agricultural practices, soil erosion, depleting forest cover compounded by unseasonal rains, floods and droughts. Eco-DRR is recognized as a viable and cost-effective approach to disaster risk reduction, leading to safer and more resilient communities.
This path-breaking programme covers Biodiversity restored habitats, improved ecosystem services, enhanced habitat connectivity, healthier soil and water quality, increased carbon sequestration, floodplain, wetland restoration, resilient vegetation cover, adaptation of indigenous species, and effective erosion control. Skills, Qualifications and Experience :
- Identify, Innovate localized Eco-DRR initiatives in collaboration with the lead technical partners and champion their end-to-end implementation so that they are established as role models.
- Identify and engage with new Partners for the design and implementation of Eco-DRR solutions
- Engage with local communities of farmers, women, PRI members and win their mind space to achieve the desired outcomes.
- Lead the team of Cluster Coordinators and Panchayat Resource Persons ( PRP) to execute the planned activities.
- Facilitate the alignment of all stakeholders including the District Administration, Line departments, Other Institutions, and the Partner organizations towards realizing the larger goals.
- Oversee, manage and report the financials based on program activities and deliverables.
- Facilitate the smooth flow of information from the field to the Central operation through timely Reports including Baseline, Midline, End line reports as well as monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Effectively apply the tenets of social cognitive theory to advance Eco-DRR outcomes, so that learning goes hand in hand with behavioural intentions, and aligned to the greater good, as this is critical to the task of fostering sustainable disaster mitigation, preparedness, and prevention in at-risk communities.
- Ensure effective team management by understanding and fulfilling their training needs.
- Have the Passion for Eco DRR, are a go getter and a people’s person to bring the entire Community together for a higher cause
- A Master’s Degree or equivalent in Disaster Risk Management / Environment science / Climate Change / Agroecology or related subject from a reputed University / Institute.
- Deep understanding of climate change, biodiversity and Disaster Risk Reduction.
- Worked in this space for at least 7 years or more and made a difference by implementing Eco DRR solutions
- Strong communication skills in English, Hindi / Tamil (written and oral).
- Good technical skills in Data collection, Data management and Data analysis with sound usage of Office Suite.
